On 21 October 1967 at the NAS New Orleans Airshow this F-11A had an engine flameout just after taking off. It settled back onto the runway and continued off into a field beyond the end of the runway. The pilot was unhurt. The a/c was deemed unrepairable and remained at the base. It was then restored for display and mounted at the entrance to the base. It has since been replaced by a F/A-18 Hornet and is now on display at the airport in Reserve, LA.

Although this F-9J was stricken from active service on 22 July 1970, it was still in use. It and several other retired a/c were used regularly for aircraft carrier flight deck towing and parking practice, crane hoist practice (hoisting from pier to flight deck), and other training for new flight deck personnel. In 1977 there were several active carriers homeported at NAS Alameda.

The last of 50 production HSL helicopters 'was kept at Bell until 1959, when it was used on a small Navy contract to test stability improvements.' Photo probably taken at Bell in Texas since an early Huey is seen. Dorsal fins had already been added to HSLs in 1953. 129877 is claimed to have become N74018, but that seems to have been a Bell 47.
