From the CFS. Retired to No. 1 School of Technical Training, reportedly broken up in 1993.

Built in 1953 and assigned initially to 115 Sqdn at Marham but went on to spend much of its life as a test airframe with the Royal Navy, A & AEE and Martin Baker. Converted to a U.14 pilotless drone in 1961 and operated as such for a short time by 728B Sqdn from Hal Far, Malta. After return to the UK and a period of storage, re-converted to a B.2, joined the A&AEE Bomber & Maritime Test Squadron and was later used for ejector seat trials. Transferred to Martin Baker at Chalgrove in 1985, returned to Boscombe down in 1988 and scrapped in 1990. The cockpit survives with the museum at Old Sarum.

The GAL-38 was a slow four-engine long-endurance aircraft that was supposed to shadow enemy fleet movements - clearly no opposition in the air was expected at sea. The Air Ministry print identifies the type as the S.23/37 after the 1937 specification, but the same designation would apply to the competing Airspeed AS.39 which was also built. This is the first of two GAL-38 prototypes, which had its triple tailfins replaced by a tall single fin by June 1941. Fuselage section, largely from TL659. Allocated BAPC.80 by the British Aircraft Preservation Council. Amalgamated with parts from LH208 and 8569M it is in the Army Flying Museum marked as ""KJ351" in 2023..
