Although not visible in this picture, the two-seat Viggen has a unique tandem cockpit with periscope for a better view from the back seat. A relatively small number of two-seaters was built and this example is one of few that has been preserved. Its cockpit is covered here to protect the glass from colouring by the elements. The excellent Flyg- och Lottamuseum in Optand has 37803 on outside display.

The first Lansen was delivered in 1955 and the aircraft type was flown until the 1990s. In total, Saab produced nearly 500 examples of the type, of which 287 were 'A' attack versions. It was an important part of the Swedish defense during the 1950s and 1960s. Unfortunately, a third of all Lansens were destroyed in various accidents, in which a total of 100 crew members and seven civilians died. The accidents were largely due to technical failures and the pilots being poorly trained in flying in the dark and bad weather. The Flygvapenmusem's example flew from 1957 with F 6 Karlsborg.

The P-51 did not arrive in Sweden until towards the end of WWII when the Allies offered used aircraft to interested buyers. In three years, Sweden bought 161 Mustangs, designated J 26 in Flygvapnet service. From 1953, the Flygvapnet began to take the J 26 out of service but did not preserve any of the frames, rather all were sold to various countries. This example first served withe USAAF as 44-63992 and then with the Israeli DF as 2353. Israeli authorities later donated it for preservation and it now wears the same F 16/A markings as when delivered in April, 1945.
