A rare K5Y 'Willow', one of a number of leftover Japanese aircraft used by the fledgling Indonesian air force. The Indonesians called the type Cureng, or Tjoereng in a Dutch-influenced spelling, hence the serial. Apparently it's a word of Japanese origin meaning 'intermediate trainer'.
Registration / Serial:TJ-62

The museum was rebuilding at this time, but fortunately in Indonesia this doesn't mean it was closed. The identity of this Mustang is unclear. Aircraft is actually F-324, ex 44-84473.

Formerly A94-353 and F-8622. Pekanbaru City isn't pretty, but this bird certainly cheered the place up! Indonesia bought 18 Avon Sabres from Australia in 1973, and another five from Malaysia three years later. They were withdrawn in the early 1980s.
