The F-8J was a re-manufactured variant of the F-8E to F-8H standard, incorporating the boundary layer control system amongst other improvements. Late in her career with VFP-63, this example was retired to MASDC a couple of years later. Cockpit label reads "Cdr Taco Bell". The Crusader was not an easy aircraft to fly with a high attrition rate compared with contemporaries, but had some extraordinary qualities; it is said that several pilots successfully took off with the wings folded - presumably accidentally!

Originally built as a TA-4F and later converted, this two-seater Scooter of the CO of VC-1 at nearby NAS Barbers Point is a good example of what USN colour was all about. Here being readied for the Hickam Open House, it was w/o 11.04.83

On show by VS-38, this was one of 119 Vikings later upgraded to S-3B with advanced systems; later in her grey days was 'NJ/736' of VS-41. Struck off Charge 2004

The Prowler was an entirely different aircraft to the EA-6A (modified from the A-6A) and was not based on the A-6B despite the designation. It carried a crew of four, the pilot and three ECM operators. This, the first of 170 built, was retained for development by the NATC at Patuxent River, MD, and arrived at MASDC three months prior to the photo date. From 1.99 she was preserved in 'Prowler Park' at NAS Whidbey Island, WA, the premier base for the type

VS-33 "Screwbirds" relinquished this Tracker in 8.75 when she entered storage at DM. At one point earmarked for the USFS and taken to Mesa Field after 2000, but hulk now back at one of the yards bordering AMARC with nose and cockpit section hacked off

Always an impressive type to see, the A-3 was never common in the UK but this one took a break from its ELINT duties to fly up from VQ-2 at Rota in Spain for the 77 Air Tattoo. Damaged during a carrier launch in 9.87 and retired to AMARC in 11.90. Rear fuselage apparently used to repair another damaged aircraft, 144856
