The Boeing 15 fighter served with the US Army as the PW-9 and with the Navy as the FB. The FB-5 model was the USN's first true carrier fighter. I understand it used 'grapple hooks' on an axle between the main wheels that this survivor doesn't have. The tail skid looks intriguing. Also the navigation light on the wing tip seems enormous, but this is mostly a wide angle effect.

Built for US Navy as an S2F-1 anti-submarine aircraft. Later converted to S2F-1T trainer, redesignated to TS-2A in 1962 and serving with VT-28 Squadron. In storage at MASDC circa Sep 1970 with inventory code 1S257, but soon returned to service. Back to MASDC in Apr 1978, now as 1S703. Became N423DF(2) in 1985 and converted to airtanker for Hemet Valley Flying Service. Flew as Tanker 77, then Tanker 84. Withdrawn from use circa 2004.
