In celebration of the 70th anniversary of 435 Squadron, the Canadian Forces unveiled this C-47, serial 12949, in the colours used by 435 Sqn during the Burma Campaign. The serial KG788 is fake, this aircraft actually was KJ956 (later 12949). The unveiling took place on May 24, 2014 in hangar 16 at 17 Wing in Winnipeg, and in mid September 2014 the aircraft was returned to its old spot next to the Stevenson Parade Square, as seen in this photo. RAF 435 and 436 Squadrons were based in India during the Burma Campaign beginning in 1944, and were critical to getting supplies to difficult areas due to terrain, weather and lack of transportation infrastructure.

Very nice to see a trio of Boscombe Down-based aircraft at this year's Waddington Airshow, including this immaculate One-Eleven, operated by the Empire Test Pilots School.

Slightly unusual in having full colour national markings.
