This aircraft owned by Ratioflug was seconded to the UN mission (ONUCA) in Central America from late 1989 to mid-1991.

This HUGE Mi-26 was once delivered as CCCP-06181 to MAP MVZ im. Milya in 1990 and was originally built for the Iraqi Army. After use in Sweden as RA-06181 with Mi-Avia from Borås in basic Aeroflot colors and additional 'Osterman Sweden' and 'Vattenfall' titles, during the mid-ninetees, the helicopter was transferred to TyumenAviaTrans in 2000 and to UTair in 2003. From mid-2003, UTAir leased the Mi-26 to the United Nations for operations over Africa. Mid-2019, it was seen stored at Tyumen-Plekhanovo in Russia, awaiting overhaul.

The UN used three Russian helicopters at Goma in January 2007. This 25828 is a former Russian Air Force Mi-8T built in 1983. Modified to Mi-8MTV-1, the helicopter was transferred to UTair late 2005 and subsequently moved to the United Nations from 2007. Since that time the helicopter never (besides a large maintenance works in 2015) went back to Russia and is operating as Russian governmental support to United Nations over Africa. It was seen in DRC, Sudan and Uganda.

RA-27114 was written off on 2 November 2007 while on a cargo flight from Ganta (Nimba County) to Loguatuo (on the Liberian-Ivorian border) when the tail rotor came off, only three minutes after take-off. The helicopter that only had some 3,500 flight hours on the meters, crashed into trees at the Forfor rubber farm (on the outskirts of Sanniquellie town, 265 km north-east of Monrovia). Unfortunately, all thee crew were killed in the accident.

This aircraft was used as a communications aircraft operating (mainly) from Jerusalem throughout the UNTSO mission area and also to Cyprus from 1973 until 1996.

An UNHAS DC-9-32 in Afghanistan, quite a challenge to fly an aircraft like this over a war-torn area. Opeations from Kandahar are well secured, but many other airfields where this aircraft operated from were less secured. The 1979 built DC-9-32 was eventually, after its long career that started with Texas International Airlines and Continental Airlines, withdrawn from use in 2012. The nine is now permanently stored at Johannesburg where it was last-noted mid-2016.

Late August 2008, this Mi-8 was new to the inventory of the United Nations aviation fleet at Abeche and still needed an UNO-inventory number. The helicopter was just transferred from UN-operations over Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) to Chad. On the 26 August 2008 it was making a test flight near Abeche airport in eastern Chad. Former number UNO-896 painted out.

The PAC750 continues to be a weird looking aircraft type. Here is one seen on Abache, in the far eastern part of Chad, close to Sudan. The aircraft supported UNHAS operations in the - at that time - massive refugee region.
