Built in 1994. It is a one-off homebuilt helicopter, built by Torstein Reinfjell. It was a trial project to see whether he could build a usable helicopter for reasonable costs, using his own theories and idea. The aircraft is made up of boat, car and aircraft parts. The build was a success and was flown several times. The project was concluded in 1999 and the aircraft was donated to the museum.

The first Catalina in Norwegian service was a PBY-5B with the 1477(N) Flight, later the 333 (Norwegian) Sqn. They were used for U-boat patrols and flights to the Norwegian coast, transporting personnel and equipment. After WW2, the Air Force kept operating the type for transport, rescue, herring searches and mine hunt operations. In the autumn of 1953 the 333 Skv received 6 new PBY-5A aircraft. These served until 1961, completing almost 20 years of Catalina service in the Air Force.

Constructed at the Kjeller aircraft factory in 1931. It belonged to the flying school at Kjeller and took part in battles in South Norway in 1940. It served as a reconnaissance aircraft, mainly operating in the mornings and evenings when the faster German aircraft were not so active. The aircraft was evacuated to Sweden on April 15, 1940, where it was taken over by the Swedish authorities. In 1942 the aircraft became SE-ALS. In 1949, the aircraft was presented to the Norwegian Air Force as a gift, flown home to Norway and restored to its original appearance.

This helicopter is one of the first six helicopters which arrived April 1953. It was used by the RNoAF until 1968 and was modified from a Bell 47D-1 to a Bell 47G during its military service. It carried the codes KK-P/BE-A/JT-O depending on which unit it was allocated to (333 Skv/Helicopter Support Wing/720 Skv). It was then sold to A/S Helilift at Hamar, and registered as LN-ORW in 1972. Operationally this helicopter was used until 1977. As a result of a trade, the helicopter again became military, now on the hands of the Norwegian Museum of Defence. It is today displayed in civilian markings.

Ex. 44-70546 with the USAAF. This is the original body of the LN-PAB. While operating on a Cold War secret mission for the Norwegian military intelligence, it crashed in lake Gavdnajavri after hitting an object in the water, after which the aircraft flipped over. The wreck remained at the bottom of the lake for 50 years, until it was found in 2002. It is being restored by the Norwegian aviation museum and the historical aviation society of Bodø.

Designed in 1938 by Birger Hønningstad and Viggo Widerøe as a new Norwegian-built ambulance plane. The manufacturing of the first and only aircraft was interrupted by World War II, but in 1947 it was finished. Between 1948 and 1971 It flew for several airlines. It was blown upside-down and sank while tied to to a buoy in the harbour and was further damaged during salvage and had corrosion problems.

Quite a colorful history for the Spitfire, as it has been transferred through a lot of units and in the shape of multiple identities. It is currently preserved at the aviation museum in the colors of 331 Squadron. Other aircraft that can be seen in the photo are a Catalina, Huey and Vampire.
