Just departing after what would have been a fuel stop from Europe to the US west coast is this 1968 built DC-8. The first five windows are blanked so likely carrying cargo on a USAF/MAC combi charter. In those days there was a public viewing area with three-foot railing on the terminal roof. As can be seen from the bottom RH corner, I was not above hopping over the railing if necessary to get my shot!

The 1952 Cessna 170B was marketed as the 'Golden Year' model celebrating 50 years of flight, which was a little premature as the Wrights were in 1903. This one was imported in 1967 still in the factory scheme and 1996 saw it go to Montana as N14055 where it still is in 2020.

Arriving from Minneapolis as the 727 took over from the Electra on this route. Note the 'Fan Jet' inscription on the side to distinguish it from the ear-splitting turbo-jets. This one entered service in 1966 and ended up as a private aircraft in Saudi.

Arriving from Minneapolis as the 727 took over from the Electra on this route. Note the 'Fan Jet' inscription on the side to distinguish it from the ear-splitting turbo-jets. This one entered service in 1966 and ended up as a private aircraft in Saudi.

Originally Imported by Carl Millard (Millardair) in 1966 after seeing executive service with Texaco and Champion Spark Plugs. In 1974 it went back south and became N47FJ. Photos on the internet of this aircraft show it as a basket case at Rolla, Missouri despite having registration renewed in 2019.

The sister ship behind (N142D) has an interesting history in that it is a 1937 built example assembled by Fokker as a Cyclone powered DC-3-216 (c/n 1946) and delivered to Swissair as HB-IRI. Sadly it crashed in March 1969.
