Officially activated by the FAA in March 2007, this particular pad is visible under construction in aerial images from July of 2006. A previous helipad was located on the south side of the hospital's property from about the year 2000 until this one was opened. Construction during 2022 meant that this pad was briefly closed, and a temporary one was used to the southwest of this one.

Hangars 6 and 7 currently house Signature Engines. They are also some of, if not the oldest structures at the airport, having originally come from McCook Field in Dayton, by way of Grisard Field in Blue Ash, in 1925. The story that they came from a WW1 airfield in France is just part of local myth. During the 1960s, Hangar 7 served as the base for Midwest Airways, a small airline which flew Lockheed 10 and 12 Electras out of Lunken.
