Taxiing out for its display at Duxford Autumn Airshow 2013. This is a combat veteran Spitfire that was built at Castle Bromwich in 1942. It was assigned to No. 315 (Polish) Sqn. on May 7, 1942 and to No. 317 (Polish) Sqn. on Sept. 5, 1942, both at Woodvale. The Spitfire wears the code of the latter squadron, and several Polish pilots were reunited with the aircraft in 2000 and 2004. It featured in the 1968 Battle of Britain movie as a static airframe.

The modern fire tender in the background is the most apparent giveaway seven decades later. "City of Winnipeg" comes in for a smooth landing at the end of Duxford Autumn Airshow 2013. Built in 1942, she has seven confirmed kills, making her one of the top scoring survivors. Six kills were scored with No. 501 (County of Gloucester) Sqn, after which the Spitfire joined No. 19 Sqn. and moved to No. 402 Sqn. RCAF in April 1944.

Later, Boeing made the PBY at Vancouver with Consolidated-built hulls, and Canadian Vickers built them in Quebec. The RCAF named the flying boat as Canso. This aircraft built in Cartierville is a Canso A, equivalent to the PBY-5A. One of two Catalina VCs posthumously went to Canso A pilot Flt Lt D. Hornell for sinking U-1225.
