This is another of the super dioramas to be seen at the National Naval Aviation Museum and depicts 'Minsi III' (one of the aircraft in which Cdr. David McCampbell achieved 34 kills, the Navy's highest scoring fighter ace) being worked on by her ground crew on the lower deck of a carrier. In reality this a/c was delivered in July 45 and became N7865C after the war before being acquired by the museum in 1971.

This venerable old aircraft flew 219 combat missions over Vietnam, concluding with the last ever combat mission by a Skyraider. That aircraft is now preserved at the New England Air Museum. The Navy acquired a batch of six D-29As in 1930 and gave them the designator NT-1. A-8588 was the last of the six to be delivered and served until 1937 at NAS Pensacola and Quantico before before retired. In reality this is an unknown D-29 that was rather neglected in civilian hands for many years before being rescured, restored and put on display at the super National Naval Aviation Museum.

This GB-2 was ordered by the US Navy as 23688 but instead was transferred to the USAAF as 44-67723. Then served with the Royal Navy as FT474 and returned to the US Navy post-war as 32873 before passing into private hands (N9459H). She is now on display at the magnificent National Naval Aviation Museum where she wears the original intended markings of an aircraft assigned to the Naval Air Station Pensacola.

This Zero was built in 1942 and operated from the airstrip on the infamous Pacific island of Ballale (now part of the Solomon Islands). After the island was abandoned by the Japanese this and a few other aircraft were left behind and gradually overtaken by the jungle. The wrecks were recovered in 1968 and this Zero was restored (using parts of other Zeros) and is now on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum.
