Some 584 J2Fs were built from introduction in 1936, but this one was not delivered until 1945. After service at several different stations on the East Coast, it was transferred to NAS Norfolk for storage in 1948. In 1969 it went on show at the USMC museum at Quantico, VA, moving to Pensacola in 1974

Part of the floorspace in the West Wing of the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola is given over to a representation of the deck of the Independence-class carrier USS Cabot (CVL-28). it is a fabulous museum and well worth the long journey for me to visit!

This Duck was accepted into the Navy in 1945 and served on the US East coast until being withdrawn in 1948. She spent time on display at the Museum Corps Museum in Quantico before being transported to Pensacola and, following a period of restoration, going on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum in 1974.
