At the time Spanair was 94% owned by the SAS Group. A number of SAS aircraft were leased to Spanair but retained their SAS livery.

Hiding in a remote corner of the airport were several airframes that had been used for various tests. This Former Japan Airlines Short Range Boeing 747 was an interesting frame as it had been pressurized so many times. Because of all the Short range domestic flights in Japan during its life span, 1973-1988. It was then operated as JA8118.

This Beaver went to a new owner in Ontario in 2012.

On wheels the Norseman looks ungainly. Sort of like a duck on dry land. On floats it looks perfect.

Upon its retirement, Tanker 22 was given a fresh coat of paint and flown over to the British Columbia Aviation Museum and it eventually was placed inside and out of the harsh weather that prevails in Victoria.

private owner at the time, based at Everett, WA. Sold in 2014 to a new owner in Bolivia, but suffered damage to engine 3 and 4 enroute to Cochabamba. Remained at Santa Cruz, Viru Viru Airport. Noted there in October 2015 with engines 3 and 4 in visually good conditions.

Avionics testbed for Allied Signal. Later when Allied Signal was bought by Honeywell, this Convair became N580HW. Continued operation until April 2019 !

This was not a sprayer like the other Harpoons stored at Buffalo, but a fire bomber with appropriate Tanker number.

In this photo this Harpoon is still fitted out as an agricultural sprayer, with spray bars on the wings, but those wouldn't last much longer. A few months later it was sold to Dave Hansen (Warbird Aircraft Sales) and restored to flying condition in US Navy markings as the "Attu Warrior". It was flown to its new home in Heber City, UT on 9 Oct 2007. The aircraft was still proudly flying by August 2015, but was withdrawn from use shortly thereafter, when Dave Hansen was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away in January 2018.

Seen here still fitted out as an agricultural sprayer, with spray bars on the wings. This Harpoon remained stored at Buffalo for another decade before being sold in Oct 2016. Restoration work reportedly started in late 2017 by Sean O'Brien's Vintage Aviation Museum. The plan was to have the aircraft flying again by summer of 2019.

By 1995 this Hirth Air Tanker Harpoon was being converted to airtanker, but the work was abandoned after the owner John Hirth died in the crash of one of his PV-2 Harpoons on 20 Apr 1997. It was left stored here, with engines and other parts missing. Remnants of the registration are still visible on the fuselage. In early 2007, Gary Hilton acquired this Harpoon with the intention of moving it to his hometown of Lone Jack, MO. By 2009, he had gotten as far as removing the wings and nose (and possibly moving them to Lone Jack), but then his plans seem to have stalled, as the aircraft was still at Buffalo as of 2020. By 2023, it had been moved into the front yard of a house just southeast of the airport, still without its wings and nose.

Having lost its tail logo after being repaired and re-painted following a flip-over accident, the Adelaide Soaring Club 1997 Jabiru LSA is still very much alive and kicking.
