Repainted to the new SAS colours in 1983/84, and OY-KGR became the only DC-9 to be repainted again in April 1999. This NF-5B was retired and sold to Turkey as 4020 on 4 April 1991

K-4002 was delivered to the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) as the very first NF-5 for the KLu. The ceremony took place on 7 October 1969. The dual seater went into storage at Woensdrecht on 24 May 1988. The aircraft was sold to Venezuala as 1721 and delivered as such on 16 September 1992.

On 1 July 1988, 313sq said goodbye to its NF-5A/B Freedom Fighter era. At that time, the Netherlands soccer team won the European Championship. The final 313sq NF-5A received a coloured tail, commemorative to the championship . Originally, it showed "the word "AANVALLE!" (attack!, the Dutch cry out of the fans during the soccer game of the national team) on the tail, but this was erased after the aircraft arrived at Woensdrecht for storage.

After the NF-5s had been withdrawn from use a number were stored at Woensdrecht.

After retirement some NF-5s received a VUD badge. VUD used to be a popular early retirement scheme at the time. A/c was delivered to Venezuela not long after this pic was taken.
