View looking South as Ringway's main runway is being extended from 4200 ft to 5900 ft at the left. A temporary runway has been marked out on the grass airfield but was little used. 06-24 came back in operation in November 1951 and scheduled flights with DC-6B's commenced to New York in late 1953. The extension was therefore well justified.
