In a new hangar at Malmi with a Polish L-10A Electra and Aero O/Y Ju 52 OH-ALL. The airport was inaugurated in May 1938 but was finished much earlier. D-AHUS was built for Lufthansa in 1934. It served with Deruluft from March 1935 until the end of 1936 as D-AHUS Milan. It was leased to the Luftwaffe in August 1939, and returned to Lufthansa in September 1944 according to the records! The sleek Ao 192 V1 prototype in Finland in 1938, wearing aircraft type name [Der] Kurier on the nose. By this time it had a raised, braced tailplane, as fitted to the V2 prototype first. The photograph was presumably taken in September 1938 - an Ao 192 was then demonstrated in Stockholm along with Bü 133 Jungmeister OH-SEA. It may also have been in May 1938 when the SILI aviation exhibition was held in Helsinki. Photo from: Finnish Aviation Museum

Bagged by the Germans in 1940, becoming D-AEAN with Lufthansa and SG-KV in the Luftwaffe. Captured by the RAF at Flensburg in May 1945 and allocated serial VP102. In the defence plans for the Netherlands East Indies, the Dornier Wal played an important role, scouting for the navy's submarines whilst operating from forward locations. The second aircraft is said to be D-40. By 1938, the Dornier Do 24 was entering service and D-39 and D-40 were both struck off charge in January 1939.
