Built in March 1990 as C-GLOT and immediately delivered to Tyrolean Airways as OE-LLM. Went to Australia as VH-TNU in November 1994 with Sunstate Airlines and Eastern Australia Airlines before Air Kenya bought it in April 2006, just a few month before this shot was taken, hence the still glossy colors on the airframe.

Built in 1982, this short version of the Do228 first went to Norving A/S as LN-HPE, then to Sweden as SE-KKX in June of 1989 before heading to Kenya in December 2003. In late 2008, it has been seen in all white colors at Lokichoggio (LKG), an airstrip in northern Kenya from where many airplanes fly relief goods into southern Sudan. It also appears to have been based at Jubba in early 2010, operating for South Sudan Air Connection SSAC. More recently, it as been involved in an incident at Pibor, Boma State, South Sudan on September 5, 2020, while being operated by Transafrican Air.

Built in 1993, first registered to Bavaro Sunflight in the Dominican Republic as HI-642CT, then to Africair as N6236G in November of 1997 and right away sold to AirKenya in December 1997, which leased the aircraft to the Save The Children relief organisation. It was reported as ET-ANF in November 2009 but seems to be back in Kenya as 5Y-BMZ at the time of upload. Nairobi-Wilson hosts many different small operators, pretty much everything from domestic airlines to tour operators to relief agencies.

The story on how the Zambia Air Force received the Dakotas and Pembrokes dates back to the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland and its break up in late 1963 when Nyasaland became Malawi, Northern Rhodesia became Zambia, and Southern Rhodesia became Rhodesia. The ZAF inherited four Dakotas and two Pembrokes from the Federal air force, the Royal Rhodesian Air Force. The Alouettes and Hunters remained south of the Zambezi in Rhodesia.
