One of several Sabre MK IV a/c in storage at San Pedro Sula in 1984. The First Tactical Group of the Honduran Air Force operated them, but by 1984 they had been replaced with the Cessna A-37B. This Sabre was operated by the RAF as XB697, transferred to the Yugoslavian AF as 11059, and in 1976 transferred to the Honduran AF.

This was one of several Sabre MK. IV a/c in storage at San Pedro Sula in 1984. When I took this slide they had been replaced at the base with Cessna A-37B aircraft. This Sabre was assigned to the RAF as XB978, then transferred to the Yugoslavian Air Force as 11077, and in 1976 transferred to the Honduran Air Force.

This F-86K was built by Fiat for the German Luftwaffe, who sold it to Venezuela in 1966. In 1969 Honduras purchased five F-86Ks from Venezuela and operated them until 1980, but found them very expensive to maintain in airworthy condition. When I took this slide in 1984 there were at least two located at La Mesa Air Base at San Pedro Sula.

This F-86K was built under license by Fiat for the German Luftwaffe. In 1966 it was sold to the Venezuelan Air Force. In 1969 Honduras purchased 5 F-86K a/c from Venezuela and operated them until 1980. There were at least two at La Mesa when I took this slide in 1984. This aircraft was in fairly good condition and appeared capable of flight.

Originally constructed as USAAF C-47 41-18696. In the background a Honduran Air Force C-47 is taking off. As I was in Honduras in a military capacity I was allowed to photograph various aircraft on the airfield as long as I requested permission.

In the foreground is C-47D FAH-311. The Honduran Air Force received this a/c and other C-47Ds in October 1974. FAH-311 appears to be a bit of a mystery, as its previous USAF s/n and manufacturer s/n are unknown. In the background are USAF C-130 a/c which are preparing to airlift the ground echelon of the 169th Tactical Air Support Squadron, Illinois Air National Guard back to Peoria, IL.

Originally built for the USAF with s/n 51-6598. At the time I took this slide the a/c was assigned to the 1st Tactical Group of the Honduran Air Force. At last report it was on display at the Honduran Air Museum at Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Slide taken in 1984 at La Mesa Airport. After a short stint transporting marijuana N8083H was left abandoned at San Pedro Sula from 1983 through 1986. Mr. Maurice Roundy acquired the a/c and ferried it back to Maine. This slide is enlarged quite a bit as I wasn't allowed to get very close to it by the Honduran security at the field.
