At the time of the photo operated by 12 Squadron which had been deployed to Darwin. The Wirraway was then a general purpose aircraft with a combat role and were replaced by Vultee Vengeances in October 1942. By then A20-7 was being used as a trainer in southern New South Wales. This was the day we rolled out Australia's oldest surviving CAC CA-1 Wirraway to the public on its 75th Anniversary. We were very proud of the restoration and the fact we brought the aircraft back to ground running condition again. Today it is safely undercover and preserved at the ANAM at Moorabbin Victoria.
