The month of January 1979 saw a total of 138 extra cargo charters at Rotterdam due to a strike from British truck drivers. Initially British Air Ferries would operate 9 flights a day between Southend and Rotterdam. Mainly with cigarettes from the UK destined for the Middle-East. The harsh winter delayed several flights. After 17 January BAF stopped operating to Rotterdam because they got a better contract flying parts between Ford factories in the UK. Transavia took over the flights to Southend.

As if unsure about whether to go ahead with the new Herald colour scheme, BAF very briefly operated 'ZG in this strange half-and-half combination. Crashed in Zaire on 11.9.84 as 9Q-CAH (registration then re-used on Viscount G-ARIR)

"Rupert Keegan" served BAF from March 1975 until sale to Zaire as 9Q-CAH in April 1983, inevitably crashing just over a year later. Originally CF-NAC with Nordair and Eastern Provincial.
