The New Zealand national airline changed its name from Tasman Empire Air Lines (TEAL) to Air New Zealand to coincide with the delivery of DC-8s . The livery remained basically that used on TEAL's L188 Electras. The first DC-8s even had TEAL on the fin until passengers got used to the new name but it was soon removed. The Air New Zealand livery was revamped in 1973 using the Maori "koru" symbol.

Delivered to Air New Zealand as ZK-NZE in 1968. Sold in 1982 and stored at Marana. Reregistered as N4292P in 1983 but not applied until 1987. To Points of Call as C-FNZE in 1987. Returned to the lessor as N223FB then to Faucett as OB-1438 in 1991. Converted to a DC-8-52(F) freighter for LAC as HK-3842X in 1994. Withdrawn from use at Miami by 1998 and scrapped,

Ex C-FNZE and OB-1438. After conversion to a freighter to LAC Colombia as HK-3842X. Broken up at MIA in 1998.

Points of Call was unable to keep their operation going with just a single aircraft. A former Air New Zealand DC-8 delivered to them February 27, 1988, it was with Points of Call from May 1988 to February 1991. It was ultimately broken up in Miami, FL during August 1998.

ZK-NZD was converted to a freighter in 1981. It was sold in 1989 to Kalitta as N806CK.

ZK-NZE was with Air New Zealand from 1968 to 1982.
