One of thirty-four Chipmunks bought by the Canadian Department of National Defence for civil training schools across Canada to provide refresher training for RCAF Reserve pilots. To the USA via the Winnipeg Flying Club in 1967, it was modified to a Super Chipmunk for airshow performances. Art Scholl acquired the aircraft in 1977 and it was donated to the EAA Museum by the pilot's widow after his death.

This first Royal Canadian Air Force Chipmunk (18001) served 1948 - 1959. Sold by Crown Assets to become N13Y, it's pictured as the much modified Super Chipmunk with pilot Art Scholl in the cockpit. The aircraft is now displayed at the Smithsonian Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles International Airport.
