This is B-25D 43-3374, converted to the F-10 photo recon version for the 91st Photo Mapping Sqdn. It was used in South America in 1944 to map the coastline and inland areas. Back in the US it was used for training then stored at Davis Monthan in December 1957. But at the end of the month it was ferried to NA at Inglewood for modification to resemble Jimmy Doolittle's B-25B, one of several that were to follow. Presented to Doolittle at Las Vegas in April 1958 and flown by several of his Raiders when ferried to Dayton for the USAF Museum. B-25D engine exhausts are different, so hidden by covers

This is actually RB-25D USAAF s/n 43-3374 marked as B-25B 40-2344, the B-25 flown by Jimmy Doolittle during the April 1942 raid over Japan. 43-3374 was TOC 31 October 1943 and was retired in December 1957. It was then transferred to the North American Aviation plant in Inglewood, CA. There it was reconfigured to resemble Doolittle's B-25B. That was finished in April 1958 and the a/c flown to the USAF Museum. This slide was taken in the outdoor display area at the old museum. It is currently on display at the current museum in the World War Two Gallery.

This is B-25J 44-29035 marked as Col. James Doolittle's B-25B. On display outside the museum atrium on April 18, 2017, the 75th anniversary of the Doolittle raid on Japan. This a/c was acquired by the museum in 1998, and for many years was marked as a PBJ-1. It is now on display inside the main museum building in the WW2 gallery.
