Arriving from Toronto as "WestJet (WJA) 907" this morning with a mismatched winglet. The ex. Swoop MAX fleet has been busy this winter season operating flights for Sunwing so it was nice to see this one as a sub in.

Surprise visitor this morning on arrival from Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei as "Victor Eight Mike Bravo Hotel" is the Brunei Government's 767.

An example of the seldom seen Horizon 4000. It arrived the previous afternoon from White Plains/NY (KHPN). Call-sign "Talon Flight (TFF) 965".

Arriving from Edmonton this morning as "Nomadic (OMD) 172" on ferry to Tbilisi, Georgia. The first of what sounds like five -300s to be ferried out in the next little while. Nomadic's owners run a YouTube channel where they document all their "adventures" called Cockpit Casual. Definitely worth a watch!

Airborne off 08R for the 14 hour journey to Delhi, India as "Air India (AIC) 186".

A Jetstar 8 when delivered to G T & E (General Telephone & Electronics Corporation), N5098G was converted to a Jetstar 731 in 1977. G T & E had a large interest in the British Columbia Telephone Company (later BC Tel) and the aircraft was a frequent visitor to Vancouver. Later registrations N417PJ, N199LA, N792AA, and N942Y. It was exported to Mexico in 2002 as XA-TVK.

A Convair 340 for United Airlines as N73129 Mainliner Toledo in March 1953. To Frontier Airlines in 1962, the aircraft was converted to a CV580 in 1964. Acquired by Gem State Airlines (N117GS) in 1979, merged with local carrier Air Pacific to form Golden Gate Airlines (N73129) in 1980 only to shut down in 1981. Next with ERA Helicopters / Jet Alaska / Era AViation 1981 - 2003. Bought via Kelowna Flightcraft, Conair converted it to an air tanker, finally retiring in 2021. Stored at Red Deer, AB for Buffalo Airways in August 2021, who bought three Conair CV580s for their engines and propellers.

This 1968 Cessna 402 was previously N87993 before coming to Canada in 1978. Ram Air Charter operated it 1984 - 90 before Terrace Air acquired the aircraft. Highland Energy Systems owned it 1992 - 95 before sold to Spur Aviation and moving to Northwestern Air Lease a year later. The aircraft was sold privately in 2000 and is current with the same owner at the time of uploading.

I previously photographed this 1952 built, Peace River/AB (CYPE) based, Piper Pacer conversion three years ago. Since then the landing gear struts have been fared in and wheel covers added. Also what looks like aluminum fences have been attached to the squared-off wings at the tip fairings.

On display at Expo 86 in Vancouver

It was just announced in March 2024 that C-FLYL, the Hawaii Mars, will be going to the British Columbia Aviation Museum in Victoria. A team of AME's and flight crew will be re-certifying and the aircraft will be prepared for its last flight, which will be from Sproat Lake to the Saanich Inlet beside Victoria International Airport. The final stage will take place on the Canadian Coast Guard Base Patricia Bay where the aircraft will be brought up on a ramp, mounted on a trailer and moved across the runway of the Victoria airport to the museum. Great to see this historic BC aircraft to be preserved.

Built in 1941 and originally RCAF serial No. 2349. Here painted silver overall and displayed without fabric covering as a "see through" exhibit for display at Expo 86. The Museum intended to restore it back to flying condition at one point, which is why it was registered as C-GBXL.

This started life as a DHC-1 Chipmunk with the Ceylon Air Force. It has been modified with a 540 cu.in. Lycoming engine, a tear-drop canopy and enlarged rudder. It is now known as a Kubassek Cooper Hawk and is here visiting from its Abbotsford (CYXX) base.

This 1950 built Super Cub has just emerged from a ten-year rebuild. It now sports a 180 h.p. Lycoming engine (hence the cowling helmets) driving a composite constant speed propeller. Here visiting from its Sechelt (CAP3) base.

Departing to Boeing Field (KBFI) after earlier arriving from San Diego (KSAN) is this 2000 built PC-12.

This 1997 built G-IVSP is registered to Redwings S.A. It arrived the evening before from George Town, Cayman Islands (MWCR).
