Delivered to Switzerland as part of the US Foreign Military Sales program with serial 76-1553. The Tiger was assembled at Emmen and delivered to the Schweizer Luftwaffe on 14 November 1979. At the time of this picture, the right side of J-3028 did not show a unit marking. The Tiger was written off after a crash near the Schaenis (Switserland) on 4 July 1996. The pilot managed to eject on time and was saved.

This aircraft was used as a ground instructional trainer, and when the AFB closed in 1993 it was transferred to the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum. The museum painted it as a T-38 flown by the USAF Thunderbirds. When the museum closed in 2015 it was transferred to the Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Florida.

419 Squadron painted this CF-5 in special colors as the solo display aircraft in 1994. It was placed in storage at the Aircraft Maintenance Development Unit at CFB Trenton in September 1995. By 2000, it had moved to the RCAF Memorial Museum and is showing some wear from the weather.
