Thankfully, not just stored but restored to its old livery and preserved, with a panoramic view of the airport from its south-west corner. Was flown here from the closing City Center airport in 2013, where it had been on display after having been phased out by Air Canada.

Identified by the nose art on the other side, as registration and fleet number had been removed. This Invader had been for sale at Red Deer and was then apparently dismantled to be brought to Wetaskiwin airport, where it was seen in above state already in September 2012. As expected from that move, its ownership was transferred to the adjacent Reynolds-Alberta Museum, but only by March 2016.

The former NASA 429 has been with Air Spray since 2006. On the nose is the logo of the Forest Service British Columbia - Airtanker Operations and that is indeed where Tanker 482 has been working for a numer of seasons in a row. It was undergoing pre season maintenance here and also sports the "45 years Wild Fire Suppression" badge on the nose wheel door.

Built in 1961 and arriving for Air Spray in Red Deer in May 2010, from the Zantop heritage at Willow Run. Pacific Southwest and others flew passengers with this frame before it became a freighter by the end of 1968. As such, it lost the forward cargo door while in flight on a military charter in 1980, but survived. Undergoing a complete overhaul here in preparation to being an airtanker. The temporarily applied Canadian regi had been stripped stripped off with N290F reappering, ahead of a fresh paint job later on.

Another 'jet prop' with an interesting history, that is quite well documented on AirHistory. This one was delivered to TEAL in New Zealand in 1959. She had a number of US and Canadian operators from 1972 onwards, including Reeve Aleutian Airways. Undergoing continued work here on the conversion into airtanker. The paint scheme on the fuselage is still mostly following the Reeve livery but with different colours.

A two-engined L-188 with no props when photographed here but this involuntary star of one of the "Ice Pilots NWT" episodes was restored to full glory, as Tanker 417, by the next Spring. Classic Lockheed and Electra emblems on the nose and matching monster-, pardon, Buffalo-green tow truck.

Still in full Transport Canada outfit with customary tiny, bilingual, titles behind the wing. Appears to have been in storage as long as it was with Buffalo Airways. Registered to them in 1994 already and finally cancelled in July 2018, to re-emerge with Basler Turbo Conversions as N856KB by September that year. However, still in Red Deer in October 2019.

Work in progress on Buffalo's Birddog 104. It had its host of US corporate employers since being built in 1980, and came to Canada for Buffalo in March 2014. This one did receive the full green and orange firefighting livery later on.

Built in 1981 and registered as N152X until October 2004. Then a Canadian corporate turboprop with current regi until bought by Buffalo Airways in May 2012, to become an Electra birddog. In the Buffalo tradition, as little was changed to the paint job as was felt necessary.

Built in 1944 and delivered as 44-35661 to the USAAF. Was damaged beyond economical repair on August 12, 2004 at Rainbow Lake, Alta., during a high-speed aborted take-off. Despite dropping the retardant load on the runway, the pilot was unable to stop in the remaining distance and was seriously injured in the following runway excursion. This part of the storage area at Red Deer was cleaned out in May 2016.

Nearest to the camera is this Douglas Sleeper Transport, still in storage with Buffalo at the date of uploading apparently. In the middle is bare metal C-FFAY that was sold to Basler Turbo Conversions as N856QB, registered September 2018, but was still in Red Deer in October 2019. The third one, CF-JWP, also went to Basler and was actually trucked to Oskhosh in September 2019. Still in its Gateway Aviation livery, it had also been registered, to N856YB, a year earlier.
