This Tiger Moth was built for the RAAF and saw wartime service as A17-385. It was one of the earlier Tigers on the civil Register, becoming VH-AKE on Christmas Eve, 1946. In the 1950s it was on the strength of the Canberra Aero Club, but now resides in private hands in Kerang, Vic. Here is is visiting the Kyneton Easter Airshow.

This colourful Tiger is ex A17-94, registered VH-ARW post-war. Unfortunately it crashed at Cairns on 26 October 1958 and the wreckage was placed in storage at Tully until the early 1970s. Recovered and restored in Brisbane, it was completed in 1990 and registered as VH-UVB on 21 June that year. It was operated by the late Barry Hempel at Archerfield for a time in the '90s and is currently occupied on joyride work at Tooradin.

VH-TSG was a hybrid aircraft, its fuselage built in the UK and shipped to Australia where locally made wings were fitted. Msn DHA8 was applied to the wings and the aircraft delivered to the RAAF as A17-8. It was disposed of in 1946 but it would be 11 years before it was registered as VH-RAW with the spurious msn DHC78, a corruption of the RAAF serial. It became VH-TSG in 1965. The aircraft crashed into the sea off South Stradbroke Island when its left wings failed during aerobatics. "Lovely!" was a pizza restaurant.

VH-TMK was lost on February 28, 1998 when its wing failed near Wellard, Western Australia, during aerobatics. The pedigree of -TMK is a mystery. Msn T250 was allocated to a rebuild of msn 83250. However 83250 is VH-CXV. A possibility is the plate stamped T250 was among the components used in building -TMK (it was first registered in August 1980) while VH-CXV still has the original British DH plate with the serial 83250.

VH-TMK was assembled from sundry components at Maitland, New South Wales and registered in August 1980. The msn was given as T250. T series numbers were allocated to airframes rebuilt by de Havilland Australia in World War II. However T250 was a rebuild of msn 83250 (VH-CXV). A possibility is the plate stamped T250 was among the components used in the rebuild of -TMK while VH-CXV still has the original plate with the serial 83250. This is the serial used in the register. VH-TMK's wing failed near Wellard Western Australia, on February 28, 1998.
