The 5000th built F-4E is in service with the Turkish Air Force. A little marking on the nose commemorates this. Since July 2016, this F-4E belongs to 111 Filo "Panterler" (Panter) based at Eskisehir, but still carries the markings of its former owner 171 Filo "Korsan"(Pirates). 171 Filo was designated as the first Turkish F-35A squadron at Malatya/Erhac, but due to tensions concerning the Russian S-400 air defense system between Turkey and the USA, it is possible the Pirates never will receive the F-35A.

This modified C-160D (once German Air Force 50+28) entered Turkish Air Force service in the early 70s as ETI-036. It was assigned to 221 Filo during the late 80s and received the so-called Gören-1 update somewhere in the 90s. This C-130E (FMS serial 63-13188) was delivered to the USAF in 1964 and first noted with the Turkish Air Force in 1991 (as ETI-088). It carried since 12-188, 13188 and 63-3188 as a serial. But since it was modified by Turkish Aerospace Industries (the first one for the THK) and redelivered to the air force in August 2014 is painted with its full FMS serial. The modernisation involved mainly new avionics and an intensive ouverhaul under the so-called Erciyes programme.

The latest F-4 variant is the Turkish Air Force Terminator. A batch of Turkish was modernized by Israel on the pattern of the Kurnass 2000. This most modern 1978 Phantom flies with 171 Filo "Korsanlar" and it was reported at Konya that these aircraft will continue to fly for another ten years from now!

On 30 June 1989, two Atlantics from Italy visited Dutch naval air station Valkenburg, at that time home of the P-3C Orion. Luckily, the Atlantics were from both units, 86 Gruppo and 88 Gruppo (see my other picture). The 86 Gruppo bird was already painted with small codes.

A permanent test Tomcat for the Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division at its homebase Point Mugu. This F-14B (Block 150, FY 1987) was delivered to the US Navy in 1989 and served from the early 90s within the Test and Evaluation community. Since the mid 90s, BuNo 163223 was used as the F-14B Avionics Upgrade Prototype and was therefore specially wired and configured. It received an N in its type designation to make it clear that this aircraft was not suitable for regular carrier deployments as it deviates from normal standard F-14s. The NF-14B was scrapped at AMARG in July 2007.

A permanent test Tomcat for the Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division at its homebase Point Mugu. This F-14B (Block 150, FY 1987) was delivered to the US Navy in 1989 and served from the early 90s within the Test and Evaluation community. Since the mid 90s, BuNo 163223 was used as the F-14B Avionics Upgrade Prototype and was therefore specially wired and configured. It received an N in its type designation to make it clear that this aircraft was not suitable for regular carrier deployments as it deviates from normal standard F-14s. The NF-14B was scrapped at AMARG in July 2007.
