The 1st YF-17A Cobra prototype at its birthing grounds Hawthorne (CA). It was rolled out at Hawthorne on 4 Apr'74, and was trucked to Edwards AFB (CA). The Cobra made its first flight on 9 Jun'74 and became on 11 Jun'74 the first US fighter to exceed the speed of sound in level flight without the use of an afterburner. The 2nd YF-17A (72-1570) flew for the first time on 21 Aug'74. The 2 prototypes carried out a series of 288 testflights totalling 345 hrs and participated in the Lightweight Fighter (LWF) program that the F-16 won. In 1976, this 1569 was sent to NASA Dryden for base drag studies

J-250 and J-259 as a whole were difficult the photograph this day, so only a detail shot of both tails at the Leerdock (education school) of the Koninklijke Militaire School Luchtmacht Royal Military Air Force School (KMSL) at Woensdrecht. J-250 is Fokker built (line number L-076) and was delivered to the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) on 9 Oct'81. J-250 was already withdrawn from service in mid-2000 and was transferred as an instructional airframe to the KMSL. In Sep'24 the cockpit was removed from the hull and preserved at Volkel, the hull was scrapped.

This C-9B was known as RY-529 with VR-59 and the name City of Fort Worth from March 1987 up to March 2000. It was moved to VR-46 in April 2000, then to VR-61 in February 2013 and eventually transferred to the US Marine Corps in February 2014. In April 2017, the Nightingale was transferred to the USAF as a testbed, still as 161529. It was last reported in mid-2021. Status since unknown. Together with sistership 161530, 529 brought a visit to the Netherlands in support of the US Marine Corps music band.

This C-9B was known as RY-529 with VR-59 and the name City of Fort Worth from March 1987 up to March 2000. It was moved to VR-46 in April 2000, then to VR-61 in February 2013 and eventually transferred to the US Marine Corps in February 2014. In April 2017, the Nightingale was transferred to the USAF as a testbed, still as 161529. It was last reported in mid-2021. Status since unknown. Together with sistership 161530, 529 brought a visit to the Netherlands in support of the US Marine Corps music band.

Was then transferred to VR-46 as JS-530 with the name 'City of Rosewell'. In September 2012, the Nightingale was moved to VR-61 and in February 2014 the aircraft was transfered to the US Marine Corps where it served VMR-1 up to April 2017. It was withdrawn from use at Mojave (CA) in June 2017. Together with sistership 161529, 530 brought a visit to the Netherlands in support of the US Marine Corps music band.
