Delivered to the US Navy in October 1957 as a WV-2, later EC-121K. Mainly used as a radar training aircraft based at NAS Glynco. Retired in 1973.

Delivered to the US Navy as a WV-2 in March 1958, serving VW-1 Squadron at Agana. Retired to MASDC in April 1971 with 12,242 total flying hours. Scrapped subsequent to May 1974.

Actually US Navy machine 141309, this Warning Star is preserved in the museum at McClellan representing 53-0552, an aircraft once based here.

I photographed this aircraft at NAS Pax River in 1974 when she was assigned to the Naval Research Lab.

The EC-121K suffered quite a bit of damage as the result of Hurricane Ivan. Its rudders, flaps, ailerons were damaged and its upper radome blown completely off. A replacement radome was salvaged from Tucson resident EC-121H 53-535 and, with the exception of the ailerons, repairs have been completed.

Interesting to note that this aircraft is in USAF colors with US Navy BuNo 141297 on the tail. It served its entire career with the US Navy.

Delivered to the USN in 8.56 as a WV-2, this machine joined the Naval Missile Range at Point Mugu in 1961. Retired to DM in 3.78; after this photo was taken she was prepared for one final flight, ferrying to the McClellan Aviation Museum in California on 8.4.83. Displayed to represent a USAF EC-121 and painted in false marks as '53-0552' to commemorate the 552nd AEW & CW which was based at McClellan AFB from 1953 to 1977

135753 was operated by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. Its upper radome has been zapped with a kangaroo stencil at one the RAAF bases it visited. In that era no visitor escaped being zapped, which was often performed under the cover of darkness.
