After retirment with the 107th in late 1989, the Corsair was transferred to the 6512th Test Squadron at Edwards. After that service, it was preserved at Eastover - McEntire ANGS (SC).

After retirement in late 1989, this Corsair was transferred to the 166th TFS within the Ohio Air National Guard. After retirement, the A-7D was flown to AMARC for storage on 25 September 1992. It received inventory code AE0226. In November 1996 it was unfortunately scrapped by National/SW.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines, so I couldn't reach this wreckage for further inspection. Therefore identification is not confirmed, but it is almost certain that these are the remains of Afghan AF An-32A serial 306. Some of the debris seen here may of course belong to other aircraft. What a mess...

Lovely old C-130A with a massive 107th TFS badge on the forward fuselage. The A-7 squadron, assigned to the 127th Tactical Fighter Wing of the Michigan Air National Guard used the Herc for logistical missions. The Hercules was preserved in the Selfridge Military Air Museum from 19 September 1989, only one month after this picture was made. Two days earlier, on 17 September 1989 the aircraft made its final operational flight.

This 71-0323 crashed on 19 Nov'91. The A-7D was written off under unknown circumstances, the pilot was killed on the scene. On the north side of Kabul International Airport, a small dump was found with several aircraft, among others, this former Russian Air Force An-26. The c/n was identified in the shadow below the tailplane.

An Il-76 without an impressive history is nearly impossible to find. This Il-76TD was delivered to the Soviet Air Force as CCCP-76659 in late 1985, transferred to Atruvera as RA-76659 in 1994 and flew subsequently with Aviacon Zitotrans, Sukhoi and again for Atruvera up to 2000. Then it became ER-IBL with Airline Transp Inc and Juba Air Cargo up to late 2004. After that, it was seen like this, all white but in service with Tenir Air up to early 2007 when it was transferred to Eastern Express Georgia as 4L-GLP. Since late 2011 is it reported as stored at Osh (Kyrgystan) as 3X-GGO.

Although no external markings, this is Army Aviation. The militarized G1159C was assigned to the US Army Operational Support Airlift Command (OSACOM). The VIP jet was once N457GA in 1991, then N7096B in Jan'92 before it was delivered to OSACOM/PAT (Priority Air Transport). The C-20F was transferred to USAPAT Pacific Flight Detachment from 3 Apr 2004. Only a few weeks later it was damaged class E at Anderson AB (Guam) on 13 Apr'04 but repaired. Since Jul'18 stored at AMARG.
