Production of the type did not go ahead mainly due to the excessive weight of the airframe and the under-developed powerplants. The fourth prototype of the PZL-Mielec I-22 Iryda aircraft, with the original registration number "04" discovered during renovation on the first layer of paint. This aircraft made its first flight after being re-registered as the civilian SP-PWC, in accordance with amended regulations. During restoration, it was also discovered that the wings of this aircraft came from the third prototype with registration SP-PWB (the original wings were damaged during pressure testing of the fuel tanks). The fourth prototype of the PZL-Mielec I-22 Iryda aircraft, with the original registration number "04" discovered during renovation on the first layer of paint. This aircraft made its first flight after being re-registered as the civilian SP-PWC, in accordance with amended regulations. During restoration, it was also discovered that the wings of this aircraft came from the third prototype with registration SP-PWB (the original wings were damaged during pressure testing of the fuel tanks). This aircraft made its last flight to Dęblin in 1995 as SP-PWC.
