A new exhibit in Dęblin. The PZL-Swidnik SM-2 was an enlarged variant of the Mi-1, first flown on 18 November 1959. About 90 examples were built. It could seat two people in front and three on the rear bench. In the ambulance role a single stretcher case could be loaded through the hatch on this side of the nose.

A total of 86 SM-2 helicopters were manufactured by PZL-Swidnik, with this single example purchased for the then Ministry of the Interior of the ČSSR. It was delivered in December 1962 and served with the Ministry as OK-BYK until 1970, after which it was transferred to Slov-Air as OK-RUV and used to check the condition of power lines and oil pipelines, as well as for film and TV work. The helicopter was retired in 1975 and transferred to the reserve collection of the Letecké Muzeum Kbely. It has been superbly renovated by LOM PRAHA and is now on display in the main museum hangar.

This SM-2 flew with the Polish AF from January 1963 until August 1976, after which it was used as a ground instruction frame at Warsaw-Bemowo. It was preserved at Lodz - Lublinek (LCJ / EPLL) before ending up in this hangar at EPGO. I believe it has since been moved to the Muzeum Orla Bialego (White Eagle Museum) at Skarżysko-Kamienna (which is great news).

The PZL SM-2 was a Polish light utility helicopter that was an enlarged version of the license-built Mil Mi-1. In total 85 were produced and they flew with the Polish AF and Navy, the border defence force and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (medevac?). Five were also exported to Czechoslovakia. This example is on display at this super museum in the newly refurbished main hangar.
