Conair Aviation purchased 11 former Flybe Dash 8-400s in 2021 for conversion to Dash 8-400AT air tankers with the installation of an external 10,000 litres (2,640 US gallons) retardant tank. The first couple aircraft flew directly to Abbotsford (YXX) for conversion, but later aircraft have flown from Europe to Muskoka Airport (YQA) in Ontario for painting while awaiting their slot on the conversion line at Abbotsford. The aircraft was photographed immediately after a ceremony and media event at Downsview marking the 300th Q400 delivery to Porter Airlines, with the aircraft wearing a commemorative 300th delivery decal on the side of the fuselage.

About as bad as it gets here for available light. Eleven minutes after this photo, at 3 pm local time, the WX was 1 1/2SM -DZ BR BKN005 OVC013. This one was delivered in March 2011 as old Alaska/Horizon and never wore the pure Horizon livery.

Arriving on the Seattle (KSEA) service today. Back in the days when Horizon was independent, this was one of two painted in the 'Comfortably Greener' livery as here.

This Dash 8-400 (C-FMTY, msn 4179) was photographed on final approach to Runway 33 at Downsview Airport, Toronto following a test flight. It was delivered to Flybe in November 2007 and assigned the registration G-JECZ.

Today on the Seattle (KSEA) service and in University of Washington Huskies football team colors. A revised design has been applied since the last time it was seen. Here it is in 2009 with Horizon titles which were subsequently changed to Alaska, otherwise the same until recently.

Arriving on the daily Seattle (KSEA) service is this Q400. Pre-Covid we used to get four of these a day with the late flight staying for wide-awake next morning.

Bombardier used this Dash 8-202 as a employee shuttle between its facilities in Montreal (CYUL) and Downsview between about 1999 and 2012 (?) when it was replaced by a Dash 8-400. This aircraft was originally built for Mesa Airlines but never delivered. It was repainted in these colours when the Dash 8 was rebranded the "Q Series" to highlight the new active noise and vibration system (NVS) installed on new aircraft to reduce interior cabin noise. Bombardier also painted a Q300 (green) and Q400 (blue) in similar markings. It was sold to Sierra Nevada Corp. in 2012 and now flies for the USAF.

Resuming the discontinued service from Seattle (KSEA). The first Covid era flight since March 2020 was actually last night and someone in the tower said that it was 600 days since they stopped running.
