D-ABCE was hijacked on 13th October 1977 by four militants of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine while en route from Palma de Mallorca to Frankfurt am Main. The hijackers diverted the flight to several locations before ending in Mogadishu, Somalia, where the crisis concluded in the early morning of 18th October 1977 when West German counter-terrorism unit GSG 9 and the Somali Armed Forces stormed the aircraft, rescuing all 87 passengers and four crew members. The captain was killed by the hijackers. To N302XV, F-GFVJ, 9M-PMQ, PT-MTB. Preserved Dornier Museum, Friedrichshafen.

Delivered to Britannia Airways as G-AVRN in 1969. Leased to Transavia as PH-TVG from 12/74 to 03/75 and returned as G-AVRN. To Viscount Air Service as N173PL in 1993. Reregistered as N313VA in 1994. To Grand International Airways as RP-C8890 in 1997. Withdrawn from use at Manila in 1998. Preserved at King Bridge Hotel in Taichung, Taiwan from 2016. Still there in 11/19. Gone by 07/20.

Delivered to Braathens as LN-SUD April 1973. Sold and leased back as N197SS August 1988 as part of Braathens' financing deal for 737-400s and -500s. To Time Air Sweden as SE-DLD April 1991, leased to Sudan Airways September 1992-March 1993, to Air One December 1993. To Magnicharters as XA-SWL December 1994 and Aero Continente January 2002 as OB-1751. To Air Guinea as 3C-LQA December 2004, lastly to LAC-Lignes Aériennes Congolaises as 9Q-CSV September 2006. India's only active B737-200 aircraft restaurant preserved in Rajasthan's Khatoo. VT-EGG was once the lifeline of Indian Airlines and Alliance Air fleet from early 1980s till 2007, post that it was converted to cargo and served till 2014 before retiring. In 2019, it found its new home in Khatoo and as of, EGG is doing its post-retirement duty by serving the devotees of Khatu Shyam Ji as the famous restaurant of the small city.

ModiLuft was one of India's first post-deregulation airline, launched in May 1993 by the Indian industrialist S K Modi, in technical partnership with the German flag carrier Lufthansa. Delivered to Aer Lingus as EI-ASG in 1970. Leased to Egyptair as SU-AYT in 1975 and returned at EI-ASG in 1976. Leased to Frontier Airlines as N7360F in 1977 and returned as EI-ASG in 1978. Leased to SAHSA as HR-SHD in 1979 and returned as EI-ASG in 1980. Withdrawn from use at Dublin in 1991 and scrapped in 1995.

Delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABHK in 1981. Leased to Air Atlanta Icelandic/Tunis Air as TF-ABY and returned as D-ABHK then to Mandala Airlines as PK-RIM in 1994. Crashed into a residential area during an inadvertent flapless takeoff from Medan-Polonia Airport, Indonesia in 2005, killing 100 of the 117 occupants and another 49 on the ground.

Delivered to Air Malta as 9H-ABA in 1983. To Air New Zealand as ZK-NAF in 1994, Sierra Pacific Airlines as N712S in 2001 then to Aviatsa as HR-MRZ in 2019.
