Some 428 Do.27s were built at Oberpfaffenhofen for all three German services from the late 1950s. This one was delivered to the Army as SC+706, later SE+528 and 56+18. After Heeresflieger service, it was civilianised as D-EITE in 1972

This Do-27 was built in 1958 and was Taken on Charge with the West German AF as 5647. In 1973 it was registered D-ELVK and has been preserved at EDAZ since 2010. The fake zebra markings commemorate the son of the famous zoologist Prof. Dr. Bernhard Grzimek, who was flying aboard Do-27 when it crashed in the Serengeti in 1959.
