The sole Viceroy was a special edition of the AS.6 Envoy built for the London to Melbourne Air Race. Here it is having its compass swung. The pilot, Neville Stack, worked for Aircraft Exchange & Mart at Hanworth, mentioned on the nose. The popular agile Gnat T.1 equipped No. 4 FTS from 1962 until 1977 and could reach Mach 0.97 at 40,000 feet. The Pyramid in the fin badge recalls 4 FTS initial formation at Abu Sueir Egypt in April 1921. 4 FTS is still extant at RAF Valley with Hawk T.1's.
