Returning to Canada after spending a couple of years in Turkey.

Western Airlines flew passengers with this Electra (N9744C) from February 1961 until the end of 1968 when it was converted to a freighter. Next with Reeve Aleutian Airways September 1970 - September 2002, although the airline ceased flying in 2000. For Atlantic Airways the registration G-LOFH was allocated but never used. Registered N4HG to a trust company, the engines were used by the airline on other Electras. Stored at Coventry, it was made flyable and sold to Buffalo Airways in 2011 to become C-FIJV. Stored at Red Deer still in RAA colors, it has provided parts for their flyable L-188s.

This Buffalo Airways parts aircraft was previously with Transport Canada registered C-FDTH. It became C-FBAE in 2011 (but never flew with this registration).

Wartime C-47 42-93423 was transferred to the Royal Air Force as Dakota III KG602. The aircraft was transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force in June 1946 with the same serial. New serial 12932 was applied in 1970 as the system was re-structured . Sold to Buffalo Airways in 1980 , it was registered C-GPNR in 1981. Although named Summer Wages, the aircraft is pictured also dedicated to Murray Crosby, a Buffalo Airways DC-3 co-pilot who tragically died in a Cessna 337 crash.

Note the flat tyre. The previous evening I had flown into YHY (from Yellowknife) on this a/c. I watched it depart YHY a little later and noticed smoke coming from the port engine. The aircraft made a circuit and landed, bursting its starboard tyre on landing. It was still awaiting attention when I took this photo the next morning. This same aircraft suffered an accident after take off from Yellowknife 19 Aug 2013. This time it was the starboard engine just as the aircraft rotated. A combination of being overweight and the prop not fully feathering resulted in an off airport emergency landing.

Became TC-TKM with the Turkish Air Force in Mar 2009.

Note that in this photo it does carry titles. To Turkey (as C-FTXB) in 2009 to train Turkish Air Force crews. Damaged whilst crew training at Izmir 9 Apr 2009 when the crew forgot to lower the gear. This incident was featured in the TV series Ice Pilot. Repaired and returned to Yellowknife. Back to Turkey and registered to the Turkish Air Force circa Nov 2009 as TC-TKJ.

With "Diamond Jubilee 95" titles on the nose.

Delivered to Buffalo circa Sep 2006 as OE-ILA and still in full Amerer Air livery. Officially re-registered C-GCLA 3 Jul 2007.

Shortly after I deplaned at YZF this Buffalo C-54E landed and taxied past. Welcome to Yellowknife I thought to myself with a smile.

Originally with Ansett Australia (VH-RMA), this Electra is pictured undergoing repairs. Damaged on March 12, 2012 when the right main landing gear would not extend, the aircraft was ferried to Red Deer and converted to a fire bomber during repairs. The Electra is current with Buffalo Airways at the time of uploading.

Delivered to the USAAF as 43-93645 and transferred to the RAF as KG713 in 1944 and then to the RCAF in 1946. Reserialled as 12946 in 1970. Sold as C-GJKM in 1975 and to Buffalo Airways in 1980. Crashed after takeoff from Hay River, NT in 2019.
