This Beech 18 is one of the 31 aircraft on display all around the Lackland parade field. It is incorrectly painted as USAF 42-9637 (which was a P-39N), but it never served with the USAF. The serial is correct for this aircraft, but it's a US Navy bureau number, not a USAF tail number. This aircraft is in fact the USN BuNo 29637, first delivered as such as an SNB-2C in Oct 1944. Converted to SNB-3 in Jan 1949, then to SNB-5 in Dec 1951. Redesignated to TC-45J in Sep 1962 and to UC-45J in Oct 1964. In Feb 1967 it went to the US Army, where it served with that same serial 29637. At the time of the photo the Beech was receiving some TLC, hence the stepladder behind.

An F-4B falsely painted to represent Douglas F-110A Phantom II "49405" (taken from BuNo 149405). It is in fact ex US Navy F-4B 149421. F-110A Spectre was the USAF designation for two Douglas F-4 Phantom IIs borrowed from the US Navy in early 1962 (Bu149405 & Bu149406). "TOIL 40" C-130H setting up for runway 29

This Thunderchief, one of 31 aircraft on display all around the Lackland parade field, was previously correctly painted with "AF62-387" on the tail. For some strange reason this was changed to this incorrect "AF24-387".

Often quoted as an RP-63G, but in June 1948 all surviving RP-63G aitrframes were redesignated as QF-63G. "Pin Ball - Do Not Tilt" is one of 31 aircraft on display at the Lackland parade field.

Previously falsely painted as "44-14151", but has now been restored in its original authentic markings. It is one of the 31 aircraft on display all around the Lackland parade field.

This P-38, one of 31 aircraft on display at the Lackland parade field, is a full scale wind tunnel model that was never assigned a serial. It carries the "Jandina IV" nose art as used on 43-28832, one of the five P-38s flown by Jay Robbins (all named Jandina I to V). Unfortunately, the painted tail number does not correspond to this. It instead pretends to be 43-78538, which is a non-existent serial. It's probably a painting error for 43-28538, which indeed does belong to a P-38J.

For most people, the lower sign is probably redundant. The one above it mentions some feats accomplished by this Sled, like flying the first three of nine sorties from the eastern US seaboard to the Middle East - and back - during the Yom Kippur War. These missions were flown out of Griffiss AFB, NY, and involved close to 11.5 hours of Blackbird air time, including over five hours above Mach 3.0.
