Old 5 Sqn markings. The Wessex to the right was visiting the local SAR Flight of the Netherlands air force.

XH669 was prematurely retired after, on 21 June 1990, a hot air leak from one of the inboard engines caused damage to the flying controls and necessitated an emergency landing at RAF Waddington. The aircraft remained on the dump at Waddington for some years before being scrapped in May 1995, though the nose section was saved and is now at Duxford.

The fuselage of Bill Francis' Spitfire on loan to the HAM and recently arrived at the time of the photo. Bill purchased the aeroplane from Pinewood Studios in 1968 with a view to restoration. It was used for cockpit shots in "Reach for the Sky" and for spares at Henlow for "Battle of Britain". Bill moved it to the garden of his bungalow in Hampton Gardens, Southend, later loaning it to the HAM after partial restoration. It moved with Bill to Southam in 1977. In 1982 it was sold to Stephen Gray, becoming G-CDAN. Subsequently restored to flight as ZK-XVI, VH-XVI. Current in 2022 marked as TB863.

On external display in the early days of the Historic Aircraft Museum. When the museum closed and its contents were auctioned in May 1983 it sold for £6,500. It was subsequently registered G-JETM and displayed at the Gatwick Aviation Museum, Charlwood.

On external display in the early days of the Historic Aircraft Museum. Sold in the Phillips Auction of the Historic Aircraft Museum contents on 10th May 1983 for £1000 and moved to West Germany in August of that year.

On display at the Historic Aircraft Museum. When the museum closed and its contents were auctioned in May 1983 it sold for £3,200. It was eventually scrapped on site in May 1989 and the cockpit section is now in the Newark Aircraft Museum.
