It is former 4R-HTF of Helitours The black helicopter, with rectangular windows and a 'glass' nose, was delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force on 19 June 2013 and leased to the civil company. The Mi-171 returned to the SLAF by mid-2016. It is seen here awaiting overhaul with the Aircraft Engineering Wing. On this day seven stored and one operational black Mi-171s were seen.

Manufacturer date 28 November 1980 was delivered to the V-VS, and then moved to the Ukraine. The sale contract was signed on 26 July 2006 and the MiG was soon after delivered as CF-761 to Sri Lanka. It was assigned to SLAF 5sq. The FLOGGER was reserialled to SFS-5304, in 2010, moved to 12sq and reserialled to this SFS-761 by March 2012. It was last seen operational in 2013. Then kept in flyable storage but eventually stored with the Aircraft Engineering Wing at Katunayake.

This CJ-6A trainer was seen outside at the Aircraft Overhaul Wing (AOW) for only Chinese a/c types. The AOW is part of the SLAF Aircraft Engineering Wing at Katunayake. It was delivered as SBT-188 to the SLAF in 2001 and assigned to 1 FTW at Anuradhapura. It was damaged on 22 Oct'07 during a Tamil Tigers attack at Anuradhapura. It was repaired, reserialled to SBT-1605 by early 2011 and moved to the 1 FTW at China Bay. It was again reserailled to fake serial,SBT-1610. Later seen as an instructional airframe at Ekala and now stored awaiting an uncertain future.

This is a former Soviet Army Aviation gunship. It carries a manufacturer date of 12 May 1985. It was moved to the Ukrain Army Aviation on 6 December 1991. Then sold to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH-632 and assigned to 9 Attack Helicopter Squadron at Hingurakgoda on 13 January 2001. It was reserialled to SAH-4410 by February 2011 and it made its last flight with only 1533 flight hours on 21 January 2009. Although not operational anymore, it received a new serial, SAH-632, by March 2012. The gunship is seen here in a terrible condition, stored with the Aircraft Engineering Wing.

Another SUH-522 during an overhaul with the Aircraft Engineering Wing. Strikingly, seven black Bell 412s were seen during the 4Aviationb visit to Ratmalana, all seven carried the same serial, "SUH-522". There are six operational ones at the time of our visit, and serials involved are reportedly SUH-523 (c/n 33097), SUH-525 (33095), SUH-527 (36225), SUH-528 (36249), SUH-529 (36557) and SUH-530 (36558). The seventh one is this SUH-522, and is SUH-524 in real. They are all assigned to the 4 (VIP/VVIP) Helicopter Squadron "Anywhere, Anytime, Safely.

This is former Bell test registration N3202A. It was delivered as CH-548 to the Sri Lanka Air Force in 1985. It was written off in MAy 1986, it serial was reportedly cancelled on 18 August 1988. But... the SLAF decided to repair the helicopter and was rebuild. Assigned to 7 Helicopter Squadron from 1997, reserialled to SUH-4103 in 2010 and became SUH-548 by Mar 2012. Here is is seen during an overhaul by the SLAF Aircraft Engineering Wing. It's tail section was seen too, but it was not possible to get the tail and fuselage in one picture.

Became a white one most probably due to a SLAF United Nations mission to Mali. After return from Mali, it was placed into storage, awaiting overhaul with the SLAF Aircraft Engineering Wing (with 5,839:43 flight hours). It is made its last flight on 1 January 2022, and a last ground run date 25 September 2023.

This Mi-17-1V has manufacturer date 24 November 1995. It was accepted by the Sri Lanka Air Force as CH-588 on 13 January 1996.
