This CJ-6A trainer was seen outside at the Aircraft Overhaul Wing (AOW) for only Chinese a/c types. The AOW is part of the SLAF Aircraft Engineering Wing at Katunayake. It was delivered as SBT-188 to the SLAF in 2001 and assigned to 1 FTW at Anuradhapura. It was damaged on 22 Oct'07 during a Tamil Tigers attack at Anuradhapura. It was repaired, reserialled to SBT-1605 by early 2011 and moved to the 1 FTW at China Bay. It was again reserailled to fake serial,SBT-1610. Later seen as an instructional airframe at Ekala and now stored awaiting an uncertain future.
