Assembled by Fokker at Schiphol in 08.37 for ABA as SE-BAC. Merged into SAS 08.48. To OH-VKB 01.54 with Kar-Air. Fitted with survey equipment 11.69. Retired 04.87 and donated to the museum at Vantaa.

Delivered new in 09.92. Merged into Finnair 12.95.

Early morning, on the southern taxiway for a 28L departure from Heathrow. The swing-tail modification was carried out by SABENA, with flight tests starting at Apr 16, 1968 in the Brussels area.

OH-KDA would later be fitted with a swing tail but at the time of its Sydney visit that was two years away. It was sold in the US as N867TA in 1982.

This DC-6B served Kar-Air as OH-KDC from December 1964 until storage in May 1972. Contrasting jet equipment at top are an Air Inter Caravelle and DC-8s of UTA and Air Afrique.

Ex USAAF C-53B 41-20058 (one of only 8 with this designation). Postwar served DDL as OY-DCA and SAS as OY-KLE. OH-VKA with Kar-Air from January 1954 until February 1970. Now preserved as "HB-IRN" at Munich Airport.

A lucky LHR diversion when seen here, this well-known swing-tail DC-6 ended her days when w/o with Northern Air Cargo as N867TA in 1986

Initially intended for Northwest Orient, this DC-8 in fact went to Trans Caribbean as N8780R in 11.61 and then to Eastern in 1.64. Interswede took her for three months (as SE-DCR) in 11.71; she returned to that part of the world with Karair in 6.72. On lease to Cyprus Airways at the time of this shot (pure co-incidence that the last thing I uploaded before this was a Cyprus DC-8), she was wfu at Brussels in 2.85 and scrapped three months later

Karair DC-6Bs made several visits to Sydney but it was unusual to find one in the general aviation park.
