Five USAF marked Dakotas, all with invasion stripes get ready to take off to drop parachutists over the Normandy beaches in a re-enactment of the momentous events of 75 years earlier. These parachutists would be landing in daylight with friendly crowds and without heavy equipment unlike their counterparts in 1944

C-47 'Betsy's Biscuit Bomber', taken at an organised night shoot at Prestwick, whilst enroute to Duxford, to take part in the Dakotas over Normandy, 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Landing on Rwy 30 after crossing the Atlantic en-route to Normandy for the D-Day 75th Anniversary celebrations. It will stop here for a few days and be on static display.

34-48608 rolled off the Douglas assembly line in the summer of 1944 and was delivered in September 1944. Too late to participate in D Day, the aircraft distinguished itself later during the Berlin Airlift where it received it's name. Pictured on display prior to the next day's departure to Gander, Canada as part of a 15 aircraft C-47 group to fly across the Atlantic to for the D Day 75th anniversary.

This Hawk was participating in an air exercise back in 1999.
