Built in 1938, originally registered as NC16909. Exported to Canada in 1938 as CF-BKB, and most likely remained there until 2000. Reg C-FBKB cancelled April 10, 2000, certificate for N244GA issued April 13, 2000.

This aircraft is now in the Kermit Weeks collection at Polk City, FL. The DC-3 in the background was N105CA.

27 Jul '44: TOS USAAF as 44-28866 and modified as TB-25J. Used by many units for training and utility transport. Jun-Jul 1955: Converted to TB-25N. 10 Oct '57: SOC. 1/58: Registered N5277V and used by several owners for firefighting. 5/93: Registered N225AJ. 1998: Peddycord Foundation for Aircraft Restoration, Asheboro, NC; restored from 1998 to 2004; making its first flight restored on 30 Oct '04 flying as "Carolina Girl." 8/04: Re-registered as N744CG. 2008: Jerry Shiffer/B-25 Project, Urbana, OH; more work done to the airframe; named "Champaign Gal." 23 Dec '08: Champaign Aviation Museum.

16 Jul '45: TOS USAAF as B-17G. 6/46: NAF Mustin Field, PA. Converted to PB-1G. 6 Dec '46: TOS USCG. Served several stations, including ice patrol. 11 May '59: Ace Smelting Inc, Phoenix, AZ with c/r N3193G. 11/59: Fairchild Aerial Surveys, Los Angeles, CA. Modified for use in photographic/magnetometer surveys. 10/65: Biegert Bros, Shickley, NE; used as agricultural sprayer. 19 Mar '66: Aircraft Specialties Inc, Mesa, AZ. 1/68: Converted as fire tanker. 1/69: Flew to Hawaii for use in the movie Tora, Tora, Tora. 7/86: Yankee Air Force, Willow Run, MI. 1986 to by 1995: Restored.

This airframe is actually a composite of parts from six aircraft. Many sections and parts are also being scratch-built using original blueprints. Airframe is identified as 44-83722 since that plane supplied the bulk of the parts, but they are adopting another parts bird, 44-85813, as their s/n. Other aircraft used are: 44-83316, 44-83525, 44-85505, 44-85734.

26 Oct 1945: Left the production line as 44-35948 after WWII ended so it went directly to RFC at Kingman, AZ. 2/46: Registered NL67164. 1961: Registered as N1244. 1965: Registered N910H. 1968: Registered N161H. 1970: Grumman Ecosystems, for electronic survey work. 7/75: Conair Aviation Ltd, Abbotsford, BC with c/r C-GHLX. Converted to fire-tanker. 7/87: Air Spray, Alberta. 19 June '09: Champaign Aviation Museum, Grimes Field, Urbana, OH, as N381EC. When photo was taken it had become N381EC but the old registration had yet to be removed and the new one applied.
