Grounded for more than one year, today she returned to fly !

Former Swiss air force J-1159, this Vampire is painted to resemble an Italian air force example.

This aircraft went to Italy around 2006. Originally taken on strength by the USN as 37419 in 1945 and wfu in 1953, it was restored by 2017 to represent MM80074 during its service with 87° Gruppo at Catania-Fontanarossa.

The Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron's Vampire, which like so many was originally a Swiss AF aircraft, was painted in Italian markings for the 100th anniversary of the AMI in 2023

Although some 754 G.91s were built, none remained airworthy after the type's retirement in 1992. MM6305 began a programme of restoration by Renzo Catellani's Volafenice team and the Italian Air Force at Piacenza in 2021 and was flown again under registration I-AMIC for the first time just two days before this appearance at the Italian Air Force 100th anniversary celebrations. Although painted as a G.91PAN of the Frecce Tricolori, its service life had been with 2º Stormo in the regular NATO camouflage. Undoubtedly one of the stars of the show along with the F-104.

Smartly attired in Italian AF livery in the historic park at Pratica, this P.166 is familiar from its appearances in a civilian livery using Italian flag colours at UK airshows. It was built in 1962 as the prototype P.166B Portofino registered I-PIAS, then converted by Piaggio as a P.166C feederliner demonstrator. Sold to Transavio for services Milan-Linate and Pisa to Elba, last flown in 1985 and stored at Milan-Bresso for 18 years. By 2002 it was in very poor condition and was bought for €50 for restoration, carried out at Rome's Guidonia AB over 17,500 hours, flying again in November 2011.

This single-seat attack MB.326 was intended for Zaire in the mid-1970s but not completed due to financial difficulty and order cancellation. Instead it remained in long-term covered storage until acquired by Volafenice at Reggio Emilia for finishing and preparation for flight, which occurred for the first time in 2019. It is painted to represent MM54391, an MB.326 of the RSV well-known as a demonstrator aircraft at airshows in the 1970s registered I-KMAK. That aircraft was eventually placed on external display at its Pratica di Mare base and contributed a number of parts to I-MBCK

Developed from a 1939 tailwheel design and first flying in 1947, orders for 81 of this light trainer for the AMI were made. They served until 1951 when 40 were donated to the Aeroclub d'Italia, although the RVSM retained the MB.308 in service till 1954.

Although painted as an AMI aircraft, this FW P.149 is in fact ex German 90+99

Originally delivered to the SVBIA (basic jet trainer school) at Lecce in 1962. In 1975, during overhaul by Aermacchi, it was converted into an MB.326E armed version, of which only 12 were delivered to the AMI. It continued to serve as a trainer as Lecce until supplanted by the MB.339, being re-assigned as a squadron liaison aircraft with 9º Stormo and then moving to 6º Stormo at Ghedi. After withdrawal from service in 1989, it was parked at San Possidonio airfield near Modena for nearly 20 years before restoration to flight, now operated by the Legend team from Reggio Emilia.

Registered in 2004 after restoration to flight between 1999 and 2003 which followed recovery from a theme park at Recanati. Originally built in 1944 as AT-6D for the USAAF, in 1951 it was converted to T-6G with a new c/n and soon found its way to the AMI under the MDAP programme. It is now painted to represent a T-6C as operated by 604º Gruppo/4º Stormo at Grosseto.

One of the well-known sprayer Harpoons from Mesa Falcon Field, AZ, which was moved into storage in Italy around 2006. Originally taken on strength by the USN as 37419 in 1945 and wfu in 1953, it was restored by 2017 to represent MM80074 during its service with 87° Gruppo at Catania-Fontanarossa airport, featuring a turret from a Martin Baltimore and a fabricated nose gun pack. Note correct US registration is also carried. The Italian AF operated 22 ASW Harpoons between 1953 and 1959, although they wanted P-2 Neptunes. All were scrapped following their replacement with Grumman Trackers.
