Unit is Escadron de Chasse (EC) 1/5 "Vendée" with badge SPA 124.

Used for an arctic expedition in the fifties. Now in the RAF Museum Cosford.

Marked as belonging to the Harrier OCU. Aircraft crashed less than a year later, the pilot ejected successfully. The aircraft was than repaired and is now in the Polish air force museum collection.

Near the end of the Skyways Coach-Air era at this long-since disused Kent airport. The 748 was originally VP-BCM of Bahamas Airways in 1967, being bought back by HSA in 11.70. Later served Dan-Air and BA; scrapped at MRS by Air Provence International in 2004, registered F-GPDC

Taken from Auster Autocar G-AMFP on an attempted flight from Southend to the airshow at Chivenor - unfortunately headwinds meant that we never made it that far...Hercules, Argosy, Nimrod, two Hastings and two Comets of the A&AEE sit at rest below. Identities, from furthest, are XW626, XS235, then probably TG502, TG500 and XN817; Nimrod and Hercules could be one of several used

An attempt to fly from Southend to Chivenor for the NATO Day in Auster G-AMFP took us overhead Lasham. Due to headwinds we never made it to Devon... this dodgy shot was taken with a 400mm hanging out in the slipstream. The 1959-build Comet was reduced to spares by Dan-Air by 3.73, while their Ambassador (G-ALZO) ultimately went on to be superbly restored at Duxford. Soon after this, it became the only survivor of the type in the world with the scrapping of G-ALZP at West Malling
