One of the 222 NAA-57 delivered and received by French Air Force before Armistice on 22 of June 1940. The NAA was French version of BT-9 used by USAAC and became the ancestor of the famous future T-6 Texan. Seen here with Caudron C-445 Goeland and Caudron C-630 Simoun requisitioned from civilian owner. This four engine Farman was initially ordered by Air France and requisitioned by French air force at the begining of WW2. It crashed into the Mediterranean Sea while on a flight from Marseille to Damascus. On board was the newly-appointed Vichy High Commissioner to Lebanon and Syria, M. J. Chiappe, his secretary and 5 crew members including the two famous French pilots H.Guillaumet & M.Reine; The airplane was hit by machine-gun fire in battle zone of Cape Spartivento involving British and Italian naval ships.
